Sierra West

Singer-Songwriter/Folk-influenced / Pop-Rock with an Edge/Alien

If James Taylor, Tom Petty, Lori McKenna, and Brandi Carlisle had a chat...

Sierra acknowledges the shadows on her journey, especially the unexpected loss of her brother, best friend, and fellow musician to a hit-and-run drunk driver when she was a teenager. “It is the biggest thing in my life. Still to this day that’s my drive and my purpose -- accepting and realizing I do the things I have to do. And if I hadn’t experienced an unexpected loss I wouldn’t appreciate how important music really is.”

Former President of the San Diego Songwriters Guild, contributing to and co-writing projects fuel Sierra's creativity. Attending music conferences and workshops, co-writing projects fuel Sierra's creativity. With nominations including the International Songwriting Competition, the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and OUTMUSIC, she was named one of the nation's "Hot Artists & Bands" by Music Connection Magazine, and won "Best Singer-Songwriter" at the San Diego Music Awards. Sierra's songs have been placed in several television series, including: "Martha's Vineyard", "Southern Charm", and the season premier of the hit ABC-TV drama "Resurrection".

A devoted friend and veterinary nurse to animals, an adventurer, traveler, family caregiver, scientist, and cancer surviver: Sierra West shares authentic songs with appreciative audiences in venues and an expanding circuit of house concerts. She left the San Diego area to take care of her father unexpectedly and returned to her hometown in CT. The local Black Bear Music Festival will be her first festival performance since returning to her roots.
