Sean Magwire

Pure Folkin Energy

Rootsy, acoustic-driven music for the soul

Sean grew up listening to The Beatles on an old tape deck before teaching himself to play guitar at age 15. Gypsy by nature, he spent his early 20s tumbling around the country, living and performing in multiple states before settling in Chicago. From 2012-2016, Sean was writing, recording, and performing with award-winning Chicago folk act, The Lulabelles. As a member of The Lulabelles, his song "Between the Cracks" won the 2015 John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize for Folk. His song “Erase this Day” was also just named the Grand Prize Winner in the folk category for the 2022 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Sean recently placed 3rd in the Rocky Mountain Songwriting Contest and performed at the 2022 Red Lodge Songwriting Festival in Red Lodge, Montana. He will also be featured as a Rising Star performer at the 2023 Whitefish Songwriter Festival in Whitefish, Montana.

Sean’s songs have been featured on radio and television programs around the world, including PBS, NPR, and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation).

He has lived in Massachusetts with his wife, two kids, and 3-legged dog since 2016 and performs throughout New England and surrounding regions.
