Before the conferring of the degrees, graduate Makayla Nelson sang an outstanding rendition of “This is Me” by Keala Settle from the movie “The Greatest Showman.” “I won’t let them break me down to dust,” Nelson sang as members of the audience swayed with phone flashlights to the music. “I know that there’s a place for us … For we are glorious.” Nelson’s performance garnered a standing ovation.
